Wanda Maximoff, known as Scarlet Witch, is a powerful character within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Originally from Sokovia, she and her twin brother Pietro (Quicksilver) volunteered for Hydra experiments after their parents were killed in a Stark Industries bombing.
These experiments exposed them to the Mind Stone, granting Wanda reality-altering and telekinetic abilities. Initially aligned with Ultron, the twins eventually defected to the Avengers. Pietro died during the Battle of Sokovia, leaving Wanda to grapple with immense loss.
Scarlet Witch struggled to control her powers and faced distrust from the public due to her association with Ultron and the collateral damage she caused. She developed a romantic relationship with Vision, another synthezoid Avenger powered by the Mind Stone.
In *Avengers: Infinity War*, Wanda desperately tries to protect Vision from Thanos, who seeks the Mind Stone. Ultimately, she is forced to destroy the Stone and kill Vision to prevent Thanos from acquiring it, only for Thanos to reverse time and brutally claim the Stone, resulting in Vision's death. Overwhelmed and heartbroken, Wanda is subsequently dusted by Thanos's snap.
